Paper presented in New Orleans at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the American Anthropological Association, for the session on Interrogating Police sponsored by the Association for Political and Legal Anthropology. The paper presents an analysis of the murky arrangement between the paramilitary and law enforcement in Medellin, Colombia. Furthermore, the paper compares the paramilitary with the Mafia in Sicily.
